Persephone and The Not so Tragic Tragedies Visit The Muse in 20o9
This is a great opportunity for you to check out Greece and a Little of Roman History as well.
The Class starts Jan 5 and walk ins are welcome but enrollment is encouraged,
Meets Monday Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this year. $400 for the entire 8 week session.
This production will include cameos of other heros in our community to appear on stage with our young actors,. Willits Bard, Willits Community Theater, Willits Arts Commission and Willits Center for Artful Living will join with Willits Healing Central, to bring professional actors, artistis and music, merry makers to the stage... The performance will be Feb 28 at 4 and 6 pm... with a tribute to Neptune and the afterward open to the public,.. Lets celebrate the waters within and without and merry make with Willits Young Actors. The cost of this family performance will be
12$ for adults and 5$ for Senoirs and Kids under 12. Couples will be $ 20
Families of 4 or more will be a mere$20.

Many thank yous for the response to our new programs at THE MUSE.
I am inspired by the work that is taking place in such a short time.
The way that my community has stepped forward to create this project for the youth of our community has been so overwhelming. I feel remarkable.
If you have not checked in for a while know that the Living Tarot which meets on Wed nights is really getting interesting. We had a monologue to night that was so inspiring.
Last nights Trance Dance made me sweat more than I have in probably 15 years. It felt so good!
The Tai Chi is building on Thursday nights to a very nice group, to be followed by the Silent Sunday contemplation at 8 and Tai Chi at 9 with a pot luck at 10 am.
If you want to dance the dj next door has a nice sound from11:30-1 pm. Toddlers and Play theater is this friday from 10-11 am . We are happy to announce our first Movie Night This Saturday at 7 pm/. Bring a pillow and something to snuggle with.
We are in for a treat of a movie for all ages as well as popcorn Yum
That same day as the Movie Night (Saturday) at 2, we will have some activities and a registration for kids for the after school program starting next Monday the 15th at 3:30.
There are more activities to come. Bi lingual Theater, Street Theater, shamanic singing and more esoteric art and theater to come. I feel blessed that the healers and leaders are presenting themselves to the Willits Young Actors to help build a bridge of Young People and the Arts in Celebration and Joy for Life.

Children’s Dance & Creativity Programs

Begin the Week of September 8^th

Creative Dance & Pre-Ballet for Children

This fun dance class for children offers a basic peak at ballet through creative expressive movement. Children play fun dance games, learn how to stretch little bones and warm up muscles, discover body shapes, play with color and movement, and imitate how animals move and dance. Little folks work with rhythms and feelings, and let their bodies just naturally dance.

Creative dance improves coordination and self-confidence, encourages spontaneity, and fosters imaginative and artistic expression in us all. This is a playful, interactive class utilizing the natural body movements and aptitudes of young boys and girls.

Tuesday afternoons: 2:00 to 2:45

Instructor: Nicole Breit

Recommended age levels: 3 to 7

Hip Hop for Kidz

Come learn this popular, fun, funky, urbanized, street form of creative dance. Students will learn creative ways to utilize their every day body movements and physical gestures to help them flow with the natural rhythms of the music. A portion of class time will be spent on creative dance as well as Hip Hop. Music chosen is age appropriate. Bring water to keep hydrated.

Tuesday afternoons: 3:15 to 4:00 pm

Kidz Hooping

For fun and exercise, to build and maintain core strength. This is a basic hooping class geared toward the skill and advancement of each individual student. Basic as well as more intermediate and advanced skills are taught, as well as dancing with the hoop, recognizing rhythms and how to interact with them, short choreographies, and trick dancing. Mixed level.

Thursday afternoons: 3:30 to 4:30 pm

COURSE DESCRIPTION: INSTRUMENT WORKSHOP

In this workshop, students will encounter a basic knowledge of music and will be introduced to the process of building musical instruments. The students will be working together to build both string and percussion instruments and will use them to add music to the performance developed in concurrent workshops. When the workshop is finished, students will get to keep their instruments. Musicians of all ability levels are welcome— no experience required!

BIO: ZACHARY EICHERT

Originally from Santa Barbara, Zachary has been teaching at Willits Charter School for the last three years. Long an amateur musician, he began experimenting with building instruments during his undergraduate studies at UCLA, where he majored in ethnomusicology. Since that time he has completed eleven instruments, most resembling small banjoes in their shape and sound, and being fabricated mainly from found materials.

Willits Young Actors and "THE MUSE" encourage you to an evening of ecstatic evolution!

Every tuesday from 7-9

Kundalini Dance. A practicum in facilitation with Roman Borochin.

Kundalini Dance unites trance states of dance, music, vocal sound,

breathing patterns, visualization, embodiment, transpersonal psychology,

and the chakra map allowing a self explorer to become aware of body,

emotion, mind, and spirit.

A series of 9 dances will be facilitated, two intro and seven

corresponding to the seven main chakra points within the body (root,

sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye, and crown).

The Intros are Open to anyone. The seven chakra dances will be held

in a space for intentional healing andjourneying for one group of

committed explorers.

The Willits Young Actors Theater next door to the Temple of the Arts at

30 A. San Francisco Ave. will hold space as our Dance Temple. If you wish

bring tapestries, or fabric for the walls, and / or additions to the alter.

Tuesday will serve as the gathering day from the hours of 7pm to 9pm.

Arrive on time, Space is limited.

Please journey with water, comfortable dance and warm cloths, and a

blanket or mat.

Many of Sara’s talents come from the art of the Appellation Mountains where she grew up playing on the forest floor. Her talents include master basket making, broom making, metal work, wood working, textile design, " wild crafting, animal husbandry, fairy art and mountain lore, the list just goes on and on. No one can quite put a name to the incredible art seeping from this young artist’s heart and hands.

. "I enjoy the peace of nature and the natural balance of things, The moment of the infinite of it all.” Challenge is just a way to stimulate creativity and to encourage others to find their spark in the world of art."
Sara is a mother of a beautiful daughter Kaya Starr and lives in Willits with her partner and friends. She teaches many old time traditional trades as well as inventing new ways to create things of beauty while stimulating the imagination of its viewers.

Silent Sundays welcomes Bill Ray and Friends

WYAT welcomes Bill Ray to instruct Tai Chi Chuan. Every Sunday at 9 am.

I was born and raised in Washington D.C. and moved with my family to Southern California in 1955. After spending my teen-age years in San Bernardino I went to UC Berkeley, meeting my future wife Judith Ann Heegler. We moved to Willits in 1971 to rear our four children, who continue to be sources of pride and happiness, and to homestead our land in the Eastern foothills. I began Tai Chi Chuan (Great Strong Power) with Joe Deisher, whose lineage includes Mr. Chang and Chen Pan Ling. After thirty years of practicing the Form, I am convinced Tai Chi's cultivation of the body's electrical energy contributes to health, healing, and reversing the supposedly inevitable aging decline. The course means to show specific movements towards these objectives.

Bill Ray is part of Willits Young Actors Community Outreach Project.

Silent Sundays begin with silent meditation at 8 am and we join Bill Ray and Friends for Tai Chi to be followed with a breakfast bread pot luck and creative writing and networking at 10.

If you feel really ambitious you can walk over to Trinity Temple for the Arts and experience Ultimate Dance With DJ Mark Anthony from 11:00 till 1:30.

What a great way to start the week off right!

Willits Young Actors is proud to introduce a new member of the cast
Van Young is our distance consultant for grants and fund raising as well as over all theater enthusiast.

The list continues to grow. Each of our consultants has over 20 years of work experience with children and the humanities . Most of us have MFA's
Van is the leader with over 50 years of experience in education and the Humanities.
The idea to give the youth of our community a resource center for the performing arts.
The true message we want to present is that you do not have to stand on stage to shine.
There is script writing and set design, costume construction and so much more that are part of a great performance.
Van will be working through out the year as our senior consultant and be buildoing bridges for us to cross over and have some money cross back over our palms..
Oh and do not forget to pass the word along. The first session of after school theater starts September 15th. Monday. not the 16th like we mentioned on the flyer.

Family theater is great for opening up communication and collecting more experience as a family unit.

Classes for Adults

Here is a little inside info on the world of the performing artist.
When your a performer it is like living with another family.
You practice with them, eat with them and sometimes live with them too.

Our new theater consultant Ian Stigliani will be teaching adult classes in the evenings and offer portions of these productions to our children's project.
Wonderful Keep your eyes and ears open! You would be wise to take up the offer of spending time with one of Mendocino's most talented performing artists.

Poetry and sonnets... send your work for us to post up on the Green Rooms Walls. This is a way to post your work on the internet. Woopee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Damian Sebouhian is a magician with words and quite a poet and actor himself. Damian's talents consist of so many differnt aspects that we encourage you to look to his bio on our web page willitsyoungactorstheatre.org Instructors page.

If this is not enough how about looking to the stage for Brian Arnold from Willits Shakespeare Club with guest appearances from His Old Buddy Bill Hetherington. These two brilliant artists are offering to bring together the Willits Shakespeare Club and Willits Young Actors for a production next year full of surprises. Dates and Time TBA. Brian will be one of our full time consultants.

Encounter Encourage Envision
While recently looking for grants I ran across this phrase from a bi-lingual theater project we are proposing to work with.
The phrase encounter , encourage, envision was plastered across the home page.
Wow does that say it all or what?!~
Just as human "Be" ings we would hope to do that for one another.
Encourage and Enliven others Visions.
This is what Ileya Stewart at 30 east sf ave has done for over 1o years now.
The gardens and beauty that has transform this once bottle factory is a miracle.
She is offering a place for unfoldment for all ages and families of diversity.
Willits Center for Artful Living will also be offering Adult Theater Classes in the Evenings .

Willits Center for Artful Living is the home for many healers and artisans. Just a little over a year ago Mana Young and Jayne ellen Arrington open Triple Trinity Temple of the Arts which is now Temple of the Arts at this center for Artful Living.
Since then, Mana has taken over the Willits Young Actors Theatre a Non Profit Home for young adults and small children to find their creative expression in the performing arts.
We are proud to introduce new project constantly into the Theater's program directory,
New ideas from the community are already pouring in.
Such as radio plays, women's theater, street theatre as well as peace theater.

Artist in Residence Program

Qualified Facilitators
The Facilitators at Willits Young Actors Theatre are visiting schools for their own version of the Artists in the Schools Program. Our master artists and performers have years of experience in the performing arts and a large percentile have MFA degrees.

Three Great Classrooms!
The different classroom structures are tailored for every imaginary situation. Our staff also would like to emphasize that these programs are meant for ALL children and young adults. Theater is a wonderful tool for the disabled.

Funding Funding Funding
New funding is appearing everywhere for the autistic, learning and physically disabled. It is our understanding that Willits Young Actors Theatre is eligible for such funding from these organizations. The applications are in the mail.

Personal Care for Everyone.
Willits Young Actors Theatre ratio of young actor / instructor is about 5 students to one facilitator. Children with special needs are welcomed and given an opportunity to see how disabilities are not a road block in an individuals journey to self empowerment and ones personal relationship to the arts.

Notebooks and pencils, art supplies, ( we have some) musical instruments, rent money, utility money, snacks for the after school program. Money for our "Children with Special Needs' Project. Volunteers for our art department and drama department as well as our dance department.

Chairman for documentary project . Alex Dunning is working in this project as well. He is a Senior this year.

Green Room Notes....

What is a Green Room?
Well who knows the real definition?
I remember asking someone while touring Ashland's Shakespeare theater. They said it was unknown.
So If you know please let us know!
I know that it is a great place to be quiet and focus and read notes others have left on the walls...
When you walk into a dressing room or some not all green rooms there are signature and notes from past shows and members of the theater...
I call this Place our Green Room
If you have anything you would like to add to the Green Room Wall please by all means post it!
We will get back to you with big big thanks...
So take out your lipstick or eyebrow pencils and start writing...
( Just kidding...)
